First Graduation Ceremony Makes History
The inaugural graduation ceremony of American University of Nigeria held on Sunday, 31 May, 2009, was accorded accolades. The history-making ceremony awarded bachelor degrees to ninety students and honorary doctorates to three dignitaries, including noted commencement speaker, Nobel Peace Prize recipient Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu.

Dr. Conrad festa assumes leadership post
At its May 31, 2009 meeting, the American University of Nigeria Board of Trustees announced the appointment of Dr. Conrad Festa as Interim President of the University. Dr. Festa assumes his new position effective June 1, 2009.

Dr. Festa is an experienced and well-respected higher education leader. He has served as the Vice President for Academic Affairs at the American University of Nigeria since January 2009. Prior to coming to Nigeria, he was provost and acting president at the College of Charleston in the US. The College of Charleston is a highly regarded university with over 10,000 students.
