Dr. Rasha Azzam is a noted researcher in organic synthesis of heterocyclic, aromatic and petrochemical compounds. She was awarded the outstanding faculty member award, of the American university of Nigeria in 2007 in recognition to her outstanding contribution to the university development, community service, teaching and scholarly activities. In addition to publications and conference presentations, she teaches a range of courses, including introduction to chemistry, organic chemistry I and II, and organic spectroscopy. She has accomplished a number of training programs and developed an array of sophisticated instructional strategies for teaching chemistry, including the use of major computer programs to provide 3D-molecular representations and 2D-data manipulation.
