Bongo Adi's training spans the humanities and social sciences. He has been a UNU fellow and a World Bank Scholar. Upon graduation from the PhD in 2006 at the University of Tsukuba, Japan, he won the prestigious Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) postdoctoral fellowship award. As lead author, he won the 2006 Social Science Prize of the Social Science Journal for his work on rational choice. He is also a recipient of the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC) PhD thesis award.
