Originally from western Canada, Professor Brown did a first degree in history and politics at Carleton University in Ottawa before attending graduate school in Montreal. He has worked in academic posts in universities in Nigeria, Kenya and Canada, and as a research officer in West Africa, as well as in a variety of interfaith programs and projects in several countries of Africa, in Canada and with the World Council of Churches, based in Geneva, Switzerland. He is happily married with four grown children and five growing grandchildren.
