Educational Background:
Dr. ibn Hyman is an award-winning behavioral scientist with extensive teaching and research experience in consumer preference theory, socioeconomic development, psychocultural pathologies in diasporic African communities. In addition to his teaching duties, Dr. ibn Hyman is currently involved in research on the role of al-Majirai as tsangaya students in conditions of ethno-religious conflict in Maiduguri (Borno State, Nigeria) as part of a larger, more comprehensive study of a unique convergence of clearly defined historical trends in indigenous Islamic education, identity, poverty and post-independence geopolitics that contribute to sporadic ethno-religious tensions in Northern Nigeria. His awards include the National Institute of Disability and Rehabilitation Research, U.S. Department of Education, post-doctoral fellowship in Disability Policy, JHR Fellowship in International Development, Danforth-Compton Fellowship in International Relations, Fulbright-Hayes, ITT International Fellowship, US Information Agency Letter of Commendation. Dr. ibn Hyman has also received consecutive citations in "Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities" and "Outstanding Young Men in America." He is also writing a manuscript that discusses the limitations of theories of culture and that re-conceptualizes the concept of culture as a teleological system.

- Ethno-religious conflict within indigenous and diasporic African communities.
- Theories of culture and cultural influences on social agency, social psychology, sociology of culture, economic sociology, and the role of meta-axiological dilemma in processes of socialization and preference shaping in self-determination and civic participation behaviors.
