Educational Background:
Dr. Mugambi began her academic career as a teacher of English and Kiswahili in Kenya, her native country. She attended the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, on a scholarship funded by the Overseas Development Agency and administered by the British Council. After receiving an M.S. degree in Applied Linguistics, she became an Assistant Lecturer at the University of Nairobi, where she taught Academic Communication Skills to freshmen, developed teaching materials, and undertook research. She was soon offered promotion to Lecturer at Egerton University in the Department of Languages and Linguistics. Hannah obtained a Ph.D in Language Literacy and Culture at the University of Maryland Baltimore County on a Fulbright scholarship.
