PROFESSOR HAMMAN-TUKUR SA'AD

Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Technology Minna

He has been Professor of Architecture at the famous Ahmadu Bello University, ABU, Nigeria since 1987. He became Vice-Chancellor in Minna after a memorable academic career at ABU, his alma mater, spanning about three decades. Professor Sa’ad had his doctoral studies at the University of Michigan in 1981. He was visiting Professor at McGill University, Montreal, Canada from 1989-1990.
Also in 1990 he was a visiting scholar at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University, Cambridge USA. Professor Sa’ad also went to University of Grenoble in 1986 for further academic work. Between 1982 and 1993 he was Head, Department of Architecture; Acting Dean Faculty of Environmental Studies; Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Acting Vice-Chancellor at ABU Zaria.

During his various leadership roles, he has demonstrated a great capacity for crisis management. This first-class architect holds the double distinction of designing and supervising the construction of the first Nuclear Reactor Facility in Nigeria, and the only Nuclear Waste Management Facility in his country. Professor Sa’ad has authored over fifty publications variously. He is a fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Architects and Principal Partner, MAHATITA & Associates.
