About the AUN Library

A view of the library from outside.

THE AUN Library, established during the summer of 2005, supports and advances the research and instructional needs of the AUN community by facilitating access to scholarly information resources.

The Library is temporarily housed in the Multi-Purpose Building on the AUN campus while a new state-of-the-art library building is due to begin construction this year. The temporary Library offers wireless access and power for students' laptops and also has ten desktop PCs installed for the use of patrons who have not brought their laptops with them.

In addition to a periodicals area, the Library can seat approximately 30 readers, and there is a small audio-visual area where videos can be viewed. Students are welcome to do their homework, peruse the latest International and Nigerian newspapers and journals, and surf the net in the comfort of the Library!

The library can accomodate large groups of people.

The Library offers Reference, Circulation and Information Literacy services to the AUN students and faculty and places a strong emphasis on facilitating the research needs of the AUN community.

The Library's collection currently contains approximately 10,000 volumes and also has growing periodical and audio-visual collections. Using the Library of Congress Classification and Subject Headings the Library intends to offer quick and easy access to all the resources in the Library as well as those available via the electronic databases to which the University subscribes. This effort has been enhanced by the implementation of the new Millennium integrated library system.
