Prominent Nigerian Businessman Gives Generously to AUN ICT Center
Executive President of the African Business Roundtable and Chairman of NEPAD Business Group, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, was guest on campus to see the progress of AUN's development.
AUN President Dr. Michael Smith showed the prominent Nigerian businessman and diplomat AUN facilities – such as the science and media labs – as well as on-going construction, including a new three-storey library.
He also toured the student dormitories, the cafeteria, north campus, and the University Club. Finally, Alhaji Tukur met the deans, who briefed him on the programs of their respective schools.
Impressed by what he saw and the contributions of AUN to the development of Nigeria through education, Alhaji Tukur made a gift of $100,000 to the university's African Center for ICT Innovation and Training. The Center trains citizens of the Yola community and nearby locations to use information technology.
President Smith expressed the sentiments of the entire campus when he praised Alhaji Tukur: "The AUN community is delighted and honored to host such a distinguished businessman and diplomat."
