2008-09 Dorms Council Inaugurated
The fourth successive Dorms Council that will address issues on dormitory life on campus has been inaugurated at a ceremony on Saturday October 11, 2008.
The council consists of Resident Assistants and Student representatives of each dormitory and floors on campus.
Delivering the valediction, outgoing chair of the council Harisu Mai-chindo said the forum is a place where every aspect of dormitory is discussed and where complaints are tackled and resolved.
"Discussions during council sessions are exciting and provide a platform for the training of students to become leaders and decision-makers." he said.
Mr. Harisu, who is a Senior R.A, noted that the council has also helped to build a good working relationship between the students and R.As.
AUN’s Director of Student Affairs, Dr. David Kosoko, performed the inauguration and presented letters of appointment to the new council members.
Dr. Kosoko tasked the council to work hard and settle issues concerning dormitory life during the 2008-09 session.
"I believe that the council will further build on past efforts towards a peaceful coexistence among those utilizing the dorms on campus," Dr. Kosoko said.
After the inauguration, two officials of the council were elected: Mary Ogbavua as council secretary, and Abdullahi Jinjiri as the Public Relations Officer.
The election of the new chair will be conducted at the inaugural council meeting later this month.
